This report is the result of follow-up studies and combined research on the criminal phenomenon that emerged in Sinai between 2008 and 2014, human trafficking for ransom with severe torture practices. The report focuses on involvement of unaccompanied minors who leave Eritrea in human trafficking practices. During 2015 and 2016, the authors of the report made a series of journeys to the northern part of Ethiopia where many unaccompanied minors arrive from Eritrea as refugees. This report, published on June 2016, looks at how human trafficking organisations operate in Eritrea and Northern Africa and the role of Eritrean minors are forced to play in these organisations, as well as their vulnerability to trafficking. Furthermore, through interviews, the report is able to thoroughly investigate the human trafficking organisations operating in the region.
